Healthcare is a huge industry and marketplace, but what’s its impact in the world?

It provides profits and jobs for some people, and cures or at least care for others. But should its revenues really be added to our GDP, or is it a necessary antidote that ideally could be replaced by the cultivation of health rather than the chase to recover it?

That’s clearly the direction the Affordable Care Act is pointing to. How can the healthcare industry respond and transform itself in response? Can new technology, which tracks disease and patients, also track health and motivate individuals to invest in it? Can pharma realize the beyond-the-pill vision of keeping people healthy with pills plus tech-mediated engagement? Will society tax sugar to pay the costs of diabetes care?

Join us for a lively, thought-provoking conversation led by Esther Dyson of Way to Wellville, which is trying to make changes like these in five microcosms around the US.

You’ll be part of a small group of innovators and investors listed here.
